Tiny stuff

Wow, another post so soon? Weird...

I think I draw too small. I rarely do big pieces. Actually I rarely do any finished piece, period. Most of the time I scribble all over the paper until it's a big mess of floating heads, disjointed members and abstract hatching, with no purpose, composition or coherence. When I feel guilty about this I'll do thumbnails. They're quick and could be expanded in something larger, maybe even a big painting. Could is the key word here, because I never get back to them. This is lower half of an a4 sheet (you can see the text printed on the other side):

Oh, and here is something that's not a drawing, but qualifies as "tiny stuff":

I carved it on a piece of soap, I'd say it's roughly the size of a tic tac box.

That's it for now. Thanks to everyone who left a comment last time, I hope you'll do the same again, despite the lack of deceased pets on this post.

the soul of art

Good stuff come into existance by accident a lot of times. Once I did this:

I kinda liked, so I tried to develop it a little bit. The result:

Damn, I definitely lost something! I can't put my finger on what it is, but that slight polishing changed the creature's essence somehow. The first one was cruder but also livelier. Some days later I did this one:

Well, it came up a little better now. Someday I'll find some use to the little fellow.

Hey, here's another crummy drawing that has a lot of charm (imho):

I wish I had a better good to bad art ratio. I usually have to do millions of embarassing crap to get to the stuff I like. Perhaps I should draw more often as to make the line walk faster.

The cat above died.

Sorry for taking so long, I still love you all!

I did this with a nib and went over it with a pencil:

This is quite small, you're seeing it amplified. Which makes it look worse than it actually is:

I liked how the guy's face turned out:

My brother, aka "Postmodern Pinocchio":

I wish I could do more like this one:

And that's it! I'm sorry for the scarce updating, it's just that I'm not drawing as much, and I try to pick only the stuff that doesn't embarass me.
Oh, and here's a doll from my grandmother's house. It's so ugly I had to take a pic, I wonder what kind of creep designed such a thing:

Heads

I'm putting those here because of Eddie Fitzgerald's last post. I won't bother explaining, go there and check his blog. I hope his eyes are good enough in case he comes here (yeah, right).
They were done five years ago, I don't do sculptures anymore because clay is too messy, but I sure miss it.

I love BIC part 2 - The Wandering Moleskine Project

This was done for the Wandering Moleskine Project. It's quite cool, people do a page and mail the moleskine for the next person in the list. A little book with art from all over the world! I don't know if they intend to pick the best pages and publish a book or something. If they do it will be awesome!
I'm trying to figure out what works on my drawings. People seemed to like the bic stuff, so I'll try to do more of that and improve the technique. The comments you guys leave here can be really helpful. Marlo said something that really caught my attention:
i really like your drawings that contain simple and obvious shapes. like your ghosts and this plant guy!
Seeing how good an artist she is, I probably should listen.

Notebook again

Hey, it's not that bad, the lines actually help you figuring out the dimension of the drawings!

I really like how this one turned out:

This looks done by someone lazy:

I like this one too, for some reason I find it interesting to see those lines magnified:

I don't know what to think of this:

And the last one looks really corny, it's too bland and definitely not the kind of stuff I want to make, but some people seemed to like it:

Go figure!
